Accessories are the last things installed and the first things you touch every day. Deciding where they go at the end of a project is how bathrooms end up with a towel bar you have to lean out of the shower to reach.
Shower niches
A niche has to sit between studs and clear of any plumbing, so its position is fixed during framing. Set the height for the person who uses the shower most, and if you want a second niche or a shampoo shelf, decide now rather than later.
Grab bars and blocking
Even if you do not want grab bars today, adding blocking behind the tile costs almost nothing during framing and makes them a simple job in the future. Retrofitting into tile without blocking is a different conversation entirely.
Towel bars and hooks
Walk the room in your head. Where do you stand when you step out of the shower, and what is within arm's reach? Hooks are often more useful than bars for daily use, and both need blocking if they are going on tile.
Paper holders and niches at the toilet
Reachable from seated, clear of the door swing, and not competing with the vanity. It is a thirty second decision on a drawing and a permanent irritation if it is missed.
Mirrors, lighting and outlets
Mirror height, sconce position and outlet placement are all rough-in decisions. Getting them onto the electrical plan means the finished wall looks composed rather than improvised.
